台灣水墨畫會自民國八十七年由創會會長胡念祖教授成立至今，是國內第一個以本土化為目標的藝術團体，隨著藝術環境的改變與多元化，畫會的宗旨仍堅持在傳統的基礎上，尋求創作空間的可能性，汲古融今，推陳出新，會員跨老中青三代，冀能薪火傳承，歷久彌新。
Eestablished by Professor Hu Nian-Zu in 1998, Taiwan Ink and Wash Painting Association is the very first art group that aims for localization. Its objectives remain the same which are to search for new possibilities for creating ink and wash paintings and creating ink and wash paintings by applying traditional skills with new ideas in spite of the constant changes and diversity of the art circle; its members include old, middle-aged and young members and hopefully the art will be passed down to future generations and become timeless.
