Since being founded in 1991, Hueifeng Dance Studio has always made good plans and arranged dance performances with Hakka style. This year, Hueifeng wins the ranking as Counselling Arts Team made by Council for Hakka Affairs again and specially arranges the show called Praise in Spring and Cicada Singing in Summer— A Series of Hakka Four Seasons which is a Hakka dance play. It deals with two delightful seasons – spring and summer – by adopting materials from nature and physical dynamism to present Hakka people's features and attitudes towards life.
In the show Praise in Spring and Cicada Singing in Summer, large trees are used as stage properties to convey Hakka's activities and customs in these two seasons. Through the dance performance, Hakka's happy-go-lucky nature, practical and agricultural life style of plowing and sowing and picking tea, and activities during festivals and celebrations can be conveyed. Employing a new approach, this show truly demonstrates the vigour of Hakka culture and arts.
