Colourful Life with Painting – Dance of Flowers

Very fine and delicate drawings of flowers and birds can be categorized into two: one is outline drawing and colouring technique; the other is spineless technique. Like European imperial paintings and Japanese woodcuts, the Chinese fine and delicate drawings' strictly fine lines, gentle and graceful colouring, form and style have also had important impact. The drawings of flowers and birds started from East Han and West Han, in the Wei and Jin periods. At that time, they only represented a kind of visual images as a background for figures or decorative handcrafts. From South Tang until Song Dynasties, they reached their climax and popularity. Then, their unique representation made them become an independent painting form.
This time, all the works that Class A of Fine Drawings of Flowers and Birds presents are made by its members' efforts and delicately supervised by Ms Shu-nyu Lin. From brush stroke of a flower petal, the viewers can sense the members' efforts. Through this exhibition, it is hoped to deliver the message of beauty to fine and delicate drawing lovers. We welcome your arrival to take a look.
