"Bian Flowers; Blossoming Only in the World of the Dead; They Blossom when Leaves Wither."
This series of artworks are created based on the metaphorical flower commonly used in Eastern literature – the red spider lily. It blossoms in the seventh month on the Lunar Calendar and is the only scenery along the road of the dead. It brings back the memories of the dead, thus is also called Bian Flower (flowers that blossom in the world of the dead). The artist uses its literary meaning to create this series which explores the description of love and pain. The images of the artworks will lead the audience to explore their self-reflective images which carry the human emotions of feeling lonely, being forgotten, wandering around and dead.
Focus:Bian Flowers are grown in the wild, around deserted tombs. They are glorious and splendid, yet all alone; their mythical meaning is used to imply the loneliness and the drifting that modern people feel as well as their yearning to belong.
