Japanese characters and calligraphy originated in China but they gradually developed a unique style which has become the so-called Japanese style. In addition to hiragana and katakana calligraphy being different from Chinese calligraphy, the Japanese also pay great attention to the paper they use and how they frame the calligraphy which are also totally different from the Chinese. This exhibition aims to explore the essence of Chinese and Japanese calligraphy and display the beauty of their isomorphism through works in various styles that combine the elements of Chinese traditional calligraphy and Japanese hiragana and katakana calligraphy.
Focus:This exhibition includes representative and important works from different periods in the development of Japanese calligraphy and artworks that copied poems or were created based on poems that were framed in various sizes. Hopefully, through this exhibition, viewers will be able to experience the exquisiteness and elegance of the diversity of Japanese calligraphy.
