"There are misbehaving students. Are there any misbehaving teachers? " This summer, a group of teachers participated in "2008 Teachers Training Programme in Arts and Humanity." They wrote scripts for three plays. The three plays deal with the relationship between teachers and students. The scripts were written from their own perspectives as non-mainstream (creative-teaching), special education and day-care-class teachers. The whole performance from playwriting to acting is all done by themselves. The contents are taken from their real teaching experiences regarded as the acting materials. In the form of acting, they reflect their concerns on education. Their performance includes the following three short plays:
1. Goodbye, Day Care Class! Because many Taiwanese parents often work overtime, they have to send their children to private day-care classes after school. Normally, the day-care class teachers are required to improve students with better academic performance. Under this pressure, they often ask their students to write a great number of sheets with simulation tests. Quite often students cheat their teachers by making up excuses, in order to escape from being tested. One day, one chubby student of a day-care class really suffers stomachache. The teacher and parents think he is pretending again so as to avoid tests and thus ignore the illness. With a good friend's assistance, this chubby student secretly sneaks out of the day-care class. The pair of them go straight to a hospital to ask for medical treatment. When the time is up for students to go home, the teacher, Lin, just realizes that that student is gone….
2. How Well-Behaved Are You? A little boy, named Wei-cheng, suffers from Tourette Syndrome which is a chronic psychiatric disorder during childhood. He often repeatedly asks the same questions and is absent-minded during class. For the class teacher, Jhang, this boy becomes a troublesome student. One day, Wei-cheng makes this teacher furious. Teacher Jhang complained to Teacher Jheng who once taught this boy during junior-grade years. Fortunately, through Jheng's explanation, Jhang finally realizes he is a special child who needs to be taught by a different approach.
3. The Devil-Training Teacher, Arnold
The student, nicknamed A-song, has a complicated family background. He regards his class learning as his leisure time. His devil-training teacher, Arnold, determines to change his attitudes. Which method will Arnold use to reform A-song, who is a notorious and frightening student to every teacher?
