每當神明誕辰、遶境出巡、進香過火等迎神廟會節慶，全臺各地都會有動態的陣頭和靜態的藝閣等民間業餘表演團體，伴隨神輿的遊行活動，增添祭典盛會的熱鬧氣氛。
藝陣在廟宇慶典時，除了擔負驅邪除魔、消災解厄、祈求平安納福等宗教性功能外，也展現其特殊的服裝造型及精湛技藝舞步的傳承，成為廟會活動時，眾人注目的焦點所在，並促進各庄頭間的聯誼來往，也成為臺灣特有的傳統文化。
　
Whenever the festivals of receiving gods and temple fairs as the birthdays of the gods, patrol, pilgrimage and passing over the fire, there will be the patrol activities accompanied shrines by moving folk art performance and amateur motionless Chinese Chariots of Flower in all places around Taiwan to add the bustling atmosphere of the festivals.
Aside from acting the religious functions as driving out evil spirits, eliminating disasters and difficulties and preying for peace and fortune, the folk art troupes will display their special costumes and the remarkable inheritance of dance steps in the festivals of temple and become the focus drawing attention of the mass in the activities of temple fair, and facilitate the social dealings among different townships becoming the special traditional culture of Taiwan.
