本館委託徐素霞教授研究出版《臺灣兒童圖畫書導賞》一書，是由一群資深插畫者暨相關研究領域學者針對兒童圖畫書領域撰文導賞。為使國內對圖畫書有更深一層認識, 特由此延伸策劃展出。
本展出內容精選具代表性的圖畫書內的插畫作品計一百五十五件，分三檔展出，從故事涵義、插畫手法等不同角度切入，尤其在創作思考意念上，分別於文學、社會、生活各種不同範例引導讀者深入觸及故事的核心，對文學創作與圖像表現有更深一層的體會，並樂在其中。
讓我們所有的老師、家長及其他成人讀者都知道如何帶領小朋友欣賞圖畫書，不只是閱讀故事內容情節，也能欣賞圖畫書中的獨特圖像美感韻味。
Senior illustrators and scholars have written an appreciation guide to accompany this exhibition of children's picture books. The seventy representative picture books chosen to be in this exhibition will be divided into three batches. Visitors can explore the works from such angles as narrative content and illustrative methods. The creative thinking embodied in these works leads viewers to grasp the story line through many different aspects of literature, society, and life.
