This play only has two characters – the girl, being more intellectually mature than other girls of the same age (Willie is indeed a male-like name) and a boy running away from school (Tom). From their dialogues, we can sense complication, sexual desire and the social reality of the adult world. The hidden loneliness of modern people under the complications of sexual desire and social reality comes up.
