The clerical script and Wei inscriptions are the core inspirations of Penetration. Chen Yi-Jyun’s has studied Chang Yu-Chao’s (1823-1894) calligraphy style for years, and this exhibition is a showcase of the study. The exhibition includes her work from high school to graduate school. This is her attempt to fuse a new style with her life experience within the traditional calligraphic elements and to bring herself to a new level.
Focus:Chang Yu-Chao taught at Lotus Academy in Hebei Province and Jianghan Academy in Wuchang. The wide influence of his style reached Hebei Province and Japan. This piece is an attempt at Mr. Chang’s calligraphy style of rigid form with rounded spirit with the thick ink penetration.
