In order to enhance student's arts creation capacity, to cultivate citizen's ability of appreciation and to put the school arts education into effect, the Ministry of Education thus organized the National Student Art Competition. It is divided into seven categories: elementary school section - painting, calligraphy, graphic design, comics, ink painting and prints; junior and senior high school (including vocation school) plus college section- western style painting, calligraphy, graphic design, comics, ink painting and prints. From elementary school to college, there are up to a total of 55 groups.
