Taken from Chinese text books used in junior high schools, including “Recording a Night Trip around Chengtian Temple” (ji cheng tian shi ye you), “Seeing off Meng Hao-ran going to Guangling”(song meng hao ran zhi guang ling), “At One’s Wit’s End”(qian lu ji qiong) and so on -- around a dozen pieces in total. Through crosstalk or comic dialogue, storytelling, bamboo clapper set and chanting, these texts are reinterpreted in an interesting way. The Chinese language’s unique aesthetics, rhythms, and profound cultural contents are well highlighted. A famous Beijing opera actress, Li Guang-yu, is specially invited to perform “Poem about Mu Lan” (mu lan shi).
Focus：This is the world’s first music performance using talking and singing arts to interpret Chinese poetry. This innovation can improve Chinese teaching – no longer relying on reading texts by heart. Keeping away from traditional boundaries, this show brings us to the language’s rich and colourful vigour.
