The American Playwright Thornton Wilder (1897-1975) untraditionally blocks his audience far away from the stage edge because of their obsession with bringing about the optical shock in realist dramas. He tells of a tale about a little town with a most economic ways—only with three scenes—describing two household of commoners’ life, love and death all throughout 13 years. Wilder leads his audience back to the most pure state while they’re listening to the story. And he wants them learn how to “cherish every moment” after leaving the theatre.
